Advanced Photoshop magazine has asked me to take down the masterclass i did for them. i am currently trying to come to an agreement as far as distributing it for people who are unable to order back issues and could not get a copy when it was out in stores.

sorry....

As Ryan said, investigate that contract. It's your work.

Did they pay you for the tutorial, or did you sign a contract indicating exclusivity?

no payment was made. there was a contract but nothing in the contract states that i cant publish it on my own.

i am assuming that because it was THEIR pdf's that i had up is the reason why they stated "copyright infringement"

How were they "their" PDFs? Are you saying that they made a layout of your tutorial for use in the magazine, and then you took said layout and put it online?

yeah they were their pdf's from the magazine.

i didn't see any harm in it. obviously i was wrong.

what are you getting at?

I'm not getting at anything; just trying to understand their argument.

Might I suggest simply taking your images/tutorial stuff and laying it out yourself? Then it's yours show off.

yeah i think their argument was the fact that i did put up their pdf's which were directly from the magazine.

i have yet to hear back from the main editor on whether i can lay it out myself and distribute it. or offer a scanned copy...

I think that if you do the laying out yourself, then they can claim no ownership of anything. ;)
