I have had a redesign of my website in the works for the better part of this year. Things have just kept it on the back burner for a while but it is now finally coming to fruition. The backend has been modified by my friend/programmer and the new design is up and in full force on the temporary location.
I have been spending the past 2 weeks putting together an entirely revamped wallpaper gallery. I am completely scrapping every jpg that is currently on EndEffect. Many of them have been carried over and over from various redesigns since 1999 which had some really bad jpg compression and banding issues, even more apparent on the LCD monitors I now use.
The biggest inclusion on the new EndEffect will be widescreen wallpapers. I have just began creating and releasing newer wallpapers in widescreen and I have gone back through my entire catalog and remastered a lot of older wallpapers into widescreen versions. I have also modified quite a few to remove gradient banding issues.
This process has taken quite a bit of time and I am still probably only 60% complete with my entire library. I have been attacking my Photoshop based wallpapers first, and I have quite a few Bryce files from my early years (1999-2000) that need to be re-rendered.
Almost every wallpaper that I have will now be available in 1920x1200 and below. As I have been going through various backup cds/dvds I have been coming across pieces I either never resized to be used for desktop wallpaper, never released, and never carried over from one site redesign to another. I am including everything, even some really bad early stuff that I am completely embarrassed of.
Behind the scenes things will be nicer for me since the backend will generate smaller resolutions from the higher 1920x1200 and 1600x1200 master files.
As long as I don't run into any major snags I plan on launching the new site within a few weeks.
Looking forward to this change!
